Have you heard of the saying “you are what you eat”?
The way we eat today is very unhealthy. especially our generation.
We have become the techno generation and have everything handed to us by a push of the cell phone button.
If you stop and think about it, it is almost like a genie in a lamp but instead, it is in a thin box.
It doesn’t grant you wishes but every once in a while it does.
you can call anywhere your heart desires and if you have the money to pay for it, it brings it to your door.
It reminds me of the movie “Wall-E” when all the people on the spaceship got fat.
because they were not walking or exercising, because they were on the floating chairs all the time.
they had all the equipment to exercise but would not use it.
I know that sounds extreme, but even though they try to make portions smaller in restaurants it is not helping.
How can that be?
Well, we are eating more carbohydrates.
Many of the foods we love to eat are loaded with them.
We consume them every day without even thinking about it.
If we do think about it, we still drink it or eat it because we just have to have it.
What are the most addictive carbohydrates?
Let me make you a list of a few.
- Chocolate
- cake
- crisps
- chips
- white bread
- wheat bread
- candy
- sodas
- Pasta
These are foods we consume every day.
some have a short break time and grab what they can to make it thru the day.
but instead of giving you energy all day, it makes you extremely tired, and you just want to close your eyes for a nap.
It is not easy to come home and fix lunch.
But to break the chain, so you don’t gain you need to make good choices when it comes to your food intake.
All these foods I listed make your sugar go sky-high, rob you of the nutrition that your body needs, and fills you with useless calories that turn to fat.
your body does not need useless calories.
It needs the energy to make it thru the whole day.
One of the things my sister does if she does not have time to make lunch is making a trail mix.
It is made of nuts. Walnuts, Almonds, Pumpkin Seed, Pecans, Raisins, Cranberry Raisins. You can add many different nuts together.
My sister just added a cup of all the ingredients together and put it in a Ziploc bag and mixed it.
It’s great to snack on when you are in the mood for something sweet and salty at the same time.
I’m sure there are other kinds of tail mixes out there if this one does not sound good to you.
Open your eye when it comes to what you put in your body.
Read the ingredients that are on the box or wrapper, if you can’t pronounce the ingredient look it up on your phone.
You may be surprised by what you find.
Then you will see what is being put in your food.
